Will Transfer 120 From North Bend to Culver School
Four Teachers also Welcomed
It is now offivial that some 120 North Bend township (Starke county) students will be transferred
to the Culver-Union Township School
It is anticipated that these students will be spread mostly over grades 1 through 10, with byt two
to five students in grades 11 and 12.
The four North Bend teachers will be contracted for the year 1961-1962 by Eugene G. Benedict,
trustee of Union township.
A brief introduction of the four “transferred teachers” follows:
David Smith – A.B. degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Also attended Manchester and
Bowling Green. Started work on master’s degree at Ball State. Four years experience, one of
them at North Bend.
Carl Shirrell – B. S. degree at Western Kentucky. Five years training, almost finished work on
master’s degree. Nineteen years experience, life elementary license. Has taught at Ober and
North Judson, and one year at North Bend township
Mrs Corine Shirrell – B.S; at Western Kentucky. M.S. degree also at Western Kentucky. Eighteen
years experience, life license. Has taught at Ober and North Judson, and one year at North Bend.
Mrs. Garnet Beauchamp – Manchester College. Life license – elementary. Twelve years experience.
Both the Culver School and the Culver Elelmentary are sincerely happy to have the students and
the new faculty members with us. We hope all involved feel sincerely welcome.
